The concept is inspired by the nature in the school’s immediate surroundings: the rolling, hilly landscape with its deciduous forests, stone walls, and moss-covered rock outcrops, as well as the undulating surface of Lake Vättern — a separating barrier between two different worlds.
The wave-shaped sculptures are constructed from a framework that draws inspiration from what in botany is called phyllotaxis: a principle that determines how flowers, leaves, and seeds are arranged on a plant stem. This system is based on the golden ratio (phi), where each new leaf or bud on the stem is separated by the golden angle. When this spiral pattern is rendered in two dimensions, a hexagonal grid system emerges.
With this work, I want to encourage exploration of the nature in the school’s local area, activate associative flows in the students, and inspire creativity and learning.
Project criteria:
The art commission at Djupadalsskolan involves designing screen walls to be mounted between the school building and the sports hall. These walls should harmonize well with the school’s activities and integrate seamlessly with both the architecture and the landscape architecture, where the proximity to the surrounding forest and Lake Vättern has been a guiding influence.

Gestaltningen är inspirerad av naturen i skolans närområde; det kuperat böljande landskapet med sin lövskog, sina stenväggar och mossbeklädda bergknallar, samt Vätterns undulerande vattenyta – en avskiljande barriär mellan två olika världar.
De vågformiga skulpturerna är uppbyggda av ett ramverk som hämtar inspiration från vad som inom botaniken kallas för phyllotaxis: en princip som styr hur blommor, blad och frön är arrangerade på en växtstam. Detta system är baserat på det gyllene snittet (phi), då varje nytt blad eller ny knopp på stammen separeras av den gyllene vinkeln. Då detta spiralmönster avbildas tvådimensionellt framträder ett hexagonalt rutsystem.
Med verket vill jag uppmuntra till utforskande av naturen i skolans närområde; aktivera associationsflöden hos eleverna och inspirera till kreativitet och lärande.
Projektkriterier:
Konstuppdraget på Djupadalsskolan går ut på att utforma skärmväggar som monteras mellan skolbyggnaden och idrottshallen. Skärmväggarna ska samspela väl med skolans verksamhet och harmoniera med både arkitekturen och landskapsarkitekturen, där närheten till skog och sjön Vättern har varit tongivande.
